Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.
Background & Context
The Jesus Prayer is one of the most central prayers in Orthodox Christianity. It combines the invocation of the name of Jesus with a request for mercy, following the example of the publican in Luke 18:13 and the blind man in Luke 18:38.
This prayer has been practiced by Orthodox Christians for over 1,500 years and is considered a complete prayer containing both praise and petition.
